2011 WOMEN'S ECONOMIC COUNCIL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

PURPOSE OF SCHOLARSHIPS:
Enable Tennessee women to continue their education to pursue career ambitions.

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1: Sign up on this website.

Step 2: Select the appropriate scholorship (either Traditional or Non-Traditional- Definitions follow below) and fill out the required form.

Step 3: Upload required supplemental documents thru this web site.

Step 4: Get qualified persons to upload Letters of Recommendation on your behalf (Upload device is found above - submit only .jpg, .PDF, or .doc ONLY, NO docx or other file formats will be accepted).

Step 5: You may SAVE your application/information so that you might re-enter using your user and password and continue to upload docs or edit your application. .

Step 6: Once you have ALL required files uploaded and all information is complete, SUBMIT the application.

CLICKING THE SUBMIT button means your application is FINAL and YOU MAY NOT GO BACK IN TO UPLOAD OR EDIT.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS For TRADITIONAL High School Seniors

THE AWARD:
A Scholarship Award of $1,000 will be presented to a Tennessee High School Senior girl selected from each Grand Division of the State for a total of three.

SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION WILL BE BASED ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Record of academic achievement both in high school and college entrance exams,
  • Participation and leadership demonstrated in school activities,
  • Participation in community activities, and
  • Quality of letters of recommendation.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

Applications must be completed online by September 30, 2011. Supplemental information must be uploaded with application by September 30, 2011, 11:59 p.m..

ADDITIONAL SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION REQUIRED:

  1. A copy of official high school transcript and a copy of ACT/SAT scores.
  2. Description of participation in school activities.
  3. Description of participation in community activities.
  4. A general description of employment positions held.
  5. A summary of personal education goals
  6. Two letters of recommendation that address applicant's leadership potential and worthiness

 


SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS For NON-TRADITIONAL Students

THE AWARD:
A Scholarship Award of $1,000 will be presented to a Tennessee Non-Traditional student selected from each Grand Division of the State for a total of three.

REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-TRADITIONAL APPLICANT:

  1. Applicant must have been out of high school or received a GED five years prior or longer.
  2. Applicant must be a student or an applicant for admission to any undergraduate program of higher education.

SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION WILL BE BASED ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  1. Demonstration of need,
  2. Description of personal education goals,
  3. Participation in community activities, and
  4. Applicant's work history, and
  5. Quality of applicant's letters of recommendation.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

Applications must be completed online by September 30, 2011. Supplemental information must be uploaded with application by September 30, 2011, 11:59 p.m..

ADDITIONAL SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION REQUIRED:

  1. Identify school or place diploma or GED received.
  2. Provide proof of enrollment or application to a program of higher education.
  3. Describe participation in school activities.
  4. Describe participation in community activities.
  5. Provide a work history with general description of employment positions held, including name of company, position held, and dates of employment.
  6. A summary of personal educational goals.
  7. Provide two letters of recommendation that address applicant's leadership potential worthiness and need.
